Update: Trying IF
⬇0.8 lb this week, ⬇10.9 lb this year, ⬇17.2 lb over all.
Still moving in the right direction, if slowly. And still no big rebound from my stomach flu weight loss. Good stuff!
Inspired by Dr. Jason Fung, I tried intermittent fasting (IF) this week. It was a bit harder than I'd expected, to be honest. My habit has been to have breakfast 10 am, lunch around 1 pm, a snack in the afternoon, and dinner in the evening.
After reading Jason Fung, I've been trying this week to keep track of my dinner time and wrap it up by 8, then inch that first meal of the day back to 11 or noon. This would put me on what fasters call an "8 hour eating window," or a "16/8. The idea is that it gives the body more time to rest, and the hormones (particularly insulin) time to stabilize before you start eating again.
The problem is habit. I'm used to my hard-boiled eggs at 10 (or bacon and eggs from the school cafeteria -- a bargain at $2.97!!!), and when that hour rolls around, I start looking for some vittles. Whether it's real hunger or habitual hunger, I'm not sure. But on the one day that I did make it all the way to noon, I did some serious lunching, then spent the rest of the day grazing pretty much constantly.
Also, it was a slow week at work. You know what they say about idle hands... Which makes me wonder if the weekend might be a better time? Usually I spent Saturday out and about, running errands and such. But then again, brunch. We will see!
Keep fighting the good fight, Davey!
